Omnibus Rage

The littlest thing can send my brother into a fury

But a massive omnibus spending bill can also do the trick.

Harry Reid should be thrown in jail along with most Democrats and a few moron Republicans.

My brother got his news on the bill from this story in Newsmax, a Rightist outlet in, naturally, Palm Beach.

He continued:

These people care more about making a name for themselves to spite the American people even on their way out. November 2nd meant nothing to them. They would rather fight against the will of the American people—add more debt and wasteful spending just for the hell of it. These motherfuckin’ Democrats deserve to burn in hell.

I didn’t even know my brother believed in hell.

But if it does exist, soon-to-be-former Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Bob Bennett (R-UT) deserve to burn there for eternity.

For the serious deficit hawk conservative he claims to be, his anger is somewhat understandable. At $1.1 trillion, the bill is massive and surely contained a good bit of wasteful spending. That must be why other leading Republicans—like Senate Minority Leader and part-time ventriloquist dummy Mitch McConnell (R-KY), presidential rumor John Thune (R-SD), and make-believe cowboy John Cornyn (R-TX)—spoke out so passionately against it.

Even though they had already passionately politicked for their own earmarks within.

McConnell: $109 million.

Cornyn: $80 million.

Thune: $55 million.

From The Hill:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has described the bill as a “slap in the face” that defies the will of voters who want earmark reform.

It includes $109 million in earmark requests from McConnell — the largest of which is $18 million for railroad upgrade at Kentucky’s Fort Knox.

I asked my brother to kindly explain away this duplicity. Please tell us that these men aren’t as cynical as this game has made them appear. Tell us conservatism means something and isn’t just a slogan that makes people feel good about voting for establishment hacks.
